Linda Major (Theater Arts Director and Fine Arts Chair)

Linda Major teaches Theater I, Theater II, Musical Theater, and Advanced Productions at Leander High School. She is the Fine Arts Department Chair as well as the UIL coordinator. She received her BSE from Mary Hardin Baylor University and her MA in directing from Southwest Texas University. She has achieved State award-winning results during her years at Leander High School, and has served on the state board for the International Thespian Society. Linda is named to the National “Who’s Who of American Teachers” and was honored with being selected for the UIL Southwestern Bell Sponsor Excellence Award. She was also recognized by Governor Rick Perry as one of Texas’ top educators. More recently, she has been presented with the K-EYE Silver Apple Award. In August of 2004, Major traveled with her students to Edinburgh, Scotland where they were honored as one of the top two theatre departments in the state of Texas.

Madeleine Hayes (Technical Theatre Director)

As a former Coast Guard brat, Madeleine grew up all over the country and quickly found a love for theatre. Having to repeatedly start over at new schools, she found her home in theatre wherever she went. Her first role was in the second grade in an after-school production of High School Musical, where she was cast as Ms. Darbis, the drama teacher - which is ironic now! She recently graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Theatre Education, and is thrilled to be part of the Leander Theatre Department.

Stacey Huston (Assistant Theatre Director and Teacher)

“Ms. H” is thrilled to join the Leander High School Theatre team. She has been involved in the program contractually for almost 15 years, as Assistant Director and Choreographer for various musical theatre projects. She brings over 30 years of theatre and dance experience to the department, and has her cum laude Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Irvine, along with a Bachelor’s in Business from the University of Texas, here in Austin. Ms. H has been blessed and so very fortunate to have had a long and rewarding career in Theatre and Entertainment, as a performer, instructor, coach, choreographer and director. Her experience has been with universities, fine arts programs, and professional and amateur dance & theatre companies right here in her beloved hometown, along with national and overseas work on stages, television, film and “on the water” with the cruise industry. Additionally, she has owned and operated a successful dance and fine arts studio in Austin. It is her great pleasure to be able “give back” and share her vast experience and enormous passion with the students, faculty, families and the Leander High School community.
