“They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky, they’re altogether ooky!” Leander High School Fine Arts Department is pleased to present the Broadway musical sensation The Addams Family January 18th – 21st. Based on both the classic New Yorker cartoons by Charles Addams and the hit TV show, The Addams Family features show-stopping musical numbers, impressive special effects, tons of laughs, and a cast and crew of more than 50 talented young artists and performers. From the creators of the Jersey Boys Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice and Drama Desk Award-winning composer/lyricist Andrew Lippa (The Wild Party, A Little Princess, Big Fish), the frightfully delightful world of Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma, Wednesday, Pugsley and Lurch come to spectacular life in this all-new story. Wednesday, the ultimate Princess of Darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a “normal” young man, Lucas Beineke, from a quite respectable Ohio family—not even remotely fiendish! Worse, the romance seems to have turned the steadfastly gloomy Addams girl downright cheery, leaving her family very worried and distressed. Comic chaos reigns and secrets are exposed when the Addams clan hosts a dinner for Wednesday’s new boyfriend and his parents, hurtling them all into a night that will change their lives forever. The original Broadway production of The Addams Family ran for 722 performances received a Broadway.com Audience Award for Favorite New Broadway Musical and Tony and Drama Desk Award Nominations for Best Original Score. Don’t miss the show that Bloomberg News declared, “Uproarious! A glitzy-gloomy musical entirely worthy of the macabre drawings by Charles Addams.” Tickets for The Addams Family are on sale now. Performances are Thursday, January 18th thru Saturday, January 20th at 7pm and Sunday, January 21st at 2pm in the Don Tew Performing Arts Center, located on the Leander High School campus at 3301 S.
